Sweden..... As we got off the plane in denmark, The crisp, cool ,ocean air felt all to familiar. I instantly thought about my mom and her danish roots and wondered if there was some sort of genetic disposition that made people love this crisp air. It instantly reminded me of being in Oregon. AS we crossed the airport isles, I looked around and felt oddly aquatinted with these blue eyed blonde, square featured Scandinavians. They all resembled my brother John who takes after my moms Danish side of the family. I also pictured my grandpa with a cigar hanging out of his mouth, a sparkle in his steel blue eyes, tall and confident. We took the train to malmo where our friends picked us up at the train station. For the first time in weeks we were with friends, A world record in our lives to go that long without the company of companions. They helped us carry our mamoth suit cases up the tall stairs to their car. We were greeted with the warm christian hospitality that is so precious to our heritage. Cold champagne, then a much missed mexican taco dinner. It feels so good to be among friends. Everything we have seen and experienced would have been so, ten fold in the company of friends. The next day our friends had a party. A banquet of swedish food. Its delicious, different from anything else I have had on this trip. Pickled herring, really fresh boiled new potatoes, sour cream and onions. YUMMY! We now have many new friends we hope will come to california for a visit. I am going to have to go on a serious diet when i get home. Jeanette loves to bake, and has had a Table full of the yummiest desserts ever.Sweden is really beautiful. I think tomorrow we will venture into copenhagen. This will end up being our favorite part of the trip just chilling out with good friends.
